For those who are scared when music and science are integrated, this is a good example of imagination, attractiveness and also beauty. Very innovative, but splendid. (en) An obvious point of comparison, it seems to me, are the Ligeti Etudes which, in recent years, have been getting the recognition they deserve as some of the most innovative piano works of the end of the 20th and beginning of the 21st centuries.
