Michel Bernanos (20 January 1923 – 27 July 1964) was a French poet and fantasy writer. He was the fourth child of French writer Georges Bernanos. He also used Michel Talbert and Michel Drowin as pen names to avoid the reputation of his father's name. His great cycle of initiation, inspired by two trips to Brazil between 1938 and 1948, centers around the novel The Other Side of the Mountain (1967). Bernanos committed suicide in the Forest of Fontainebleau. Most of his works were published posthumously.

A tout juste 19 ans, il s'engageait dans les Forces Navales Françaises Libres et participait ainsi au débarquement allié du 6 juin 1944 ainsi qu'à la bataille navale de Normandie qui s'achevait en août 1944. L'intégralité de son œuvre sera profondément marquée par son vécu sur ces années de guerre, en particulier La Montagne Morte de la Vie. Une vitrine lui est consacrée au Musée Militaire de l'Ordre de la Libération comprenant son uniforme, son acte d'engagement du 11 mars 1943 ainsi que divers documents militaires personnels. Il décède le 27 juillet 1964 à Fontainebleau. La plupart de ses œuvres sont publiées à titre posthume. (fr)
