Micro-donation or microphilanthropy is a form of charitable donation that is small in the donated amount. In the past, micro-donations have been used most effectively by companies collecting spare change at registers and checkouts. Recently, this form of philanthropy has become more popular with the advent of online and mobile donating. In addition to the more traditional forms of donating, like giving directly from person to person, both the internet and mobile-phones have become more accepted by the public for collecting donations.

Nel passato le microdonazioni sono state utilizzate in modo efficace da organizzazioni che raccoglievano gli spiccioli alle casse di punti vendita ed esercizi commerciali. Recentemente questa forma di filantropia ha accresciuto la sua popolarità con l'avvento del fundraising online e via telefono (mobile donating) spesso promosso da organizzazioni non profit. In Deutschland konnte beispielsweise die Kampagne Deutschland rundet auf seit dem 1. März 2012 über 2,1 Millionen Euro an Mikrospenden zugunsten gemeinnütziger Projekte erlösen (Stand: 6. März 2014).
