Mirror Lakes are a set of lakes lying north of Lake Te Anau and immediately to the west of the road from Te Anau to Milford Sound in New Zealand. At 56 kilometres (35 mi) north of Te Anau, the lakes are about halfway to Milford Sound and the car park right next to State Highway 94 is a popular stop for tour buses on route to Milford Sound.

| - Die Mirror Lakes sind Seen in der Region Southland auf der Südinsel Neuseelands. Sie befinden sich am New Zealand State Highway 94 zwischen Te Anau und Milford Sound/Piopiotahi südlich von Knobs Flat und sind Teil des Fiordland-Nationalparks. Sie werden vom Black Creek, einem von Schnee und Regen gespeisten Zufluss des Eglinton Rivers durchflossen. Es handelt sich um ein Altwasser eines früheren Flussbettes des Eglinton Rivers. An den Seen leben Vögel wie Australische Rohrdommel, Farnsteiger, Haubentaucher, Maori-Ente und Augenbrauenente, aber auch die mit diesen in Konkurrenz stehende eingeführte Stockente. Zu den heimischen Fischen gehören der Langflossenaal (Anguilla dieffenbachii) und der (Galaxias brevipinnis). Die in Neuseeland nicht heimischen Regenbogenforellen und Bachforellen wurden zum Angeln in das System des Eglinton River eingeschleppt. Die Seen sind bekannt dafür, dass sie bei Windstille am frühen Morgen oder Abend wie ein Spiegel die dahinter liegende Landschaft mit den Earl Mountains reflektieren. Das am SH 94 gelegene Westufer wurde vom DOC mit Parkspur, Aussichtspunkten, barrierefreien Wegen und Informationstafeln touristisch erschlossen. - Mirror Lakes are a set of lakes lying north of Lake Te Anau and immediately to the west of the road from Te Anau to Milford Sound in New Zealand. At 56 kilometres (35 mi) north of Te Anau, the lakes are about halfway to Milford Sound and the car park right next to State Highway 94 is a popular stop for tour buses on route to Milford Sound. The lakes are only a 5-minute walk away from the car park along a wheelchair-friendly boardwalk. A wooden viewing platform and short walking track run along the lakes, one of which has a deliberately mirrored sign mounted just above the water's surface, so that the name "Mirror Lakes" is shown correctly in its reflection. On a calm day, the Earl Mountains can be seen reflected in the water. (en)
