On the formation of the urban district it was used as the council's headquarters until 1974. Since its abolition, the town hall has remained in community use and is available for hire. The building has been extensively refurbished and is now also used by Neston Town Council. On 1 April 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, the urban district was abolished and its area absorbed into the Borough of Ellesmere Port and Neston. (en)
