Niccolao Manucci (19 April 1638 – 1717) was a Venetian writer, a self-taught physician, and traveller, who wrote accounts of the Mughal Empire supposedly first-hand but with many details now considered doubtful. He also documented folk beliefs and customs of the period.

Parti pour l'Est en 1660 aux côtés d'un noble anglais, Lord Bellomont, sur une mission diplomatique, il occupe différents postes en Inde tel qu’aventurier à la cour du Grand Mogol, en passant par canonnier et médecin. On lui a également conféré des missions diplomatiques pour le compte des Portugais à Goa. Dans la dernière partie de sa vie, il se retire à Pondichéry où il dicte à ses scribes la Storia do Mogor, composée de récits de ses voyages et une description détaillée de l'empire moghol de la fin du XVIIe siècle. W wieku 14 lat wyjechał do wujka, kupca mieszkającego na Korfu, gdzie wkradł się na statek płynący do Smyrny w Turcji. Dzięki wstawiennictwu Henry'ego Barda, wicehrabiego Bellomont uniknął wyrzucenia z okrętu na pełnym morzu. Po dotarciu do Smyrny dołączył do Henry'ego Barda, z którym dotarł do Indii. Do miasta Surat przybył w 1656 roku w wieku zaledwie 18 lat, gdzie ze względu na swoje europejskie pochodzenia zdołał zdobyć zaufanie Dary Szikoha, najstarszego syna cesarza Indii Szahdżahana i jego najukochańszej żony Mumtaz Mahal.
