PROBA-V, or PROBA-Vegetation (the V standing for vegetation and not the Roman numeral for 5), is a satellite in the European Space Agency's PROBA series. It was launched in 2013 with a predicted usable lifetime between 2.5 and 5 years.

La mission principale de PROBA-V est de prendre la suite de l'instrument VEGETATION embarqué sur les satellites Spot 4 et 5. Une version fortement allégée de cet instrument est embarquée sur le satellite, ainsi que plusieurs démonstrateurs technologiques. Le micro-satellite a été placé en orbite le 7 mai 2013 par une fusée Vega pour une mission d'une durée comprise entre deux ans et demi et cinq ans. Après 7 ans d'activité, le satellite atteint la fin de sa durée de vie opérationnelle le 30 juin 2020. Sa mission est officiellement terminée fin octob (fr) PROBA-V is een kleine aardobservatiesatelliet van de Europese Ruimtevaartorganisatie, gebouwd door de Belgische firma (voorheen Verhaert NV) uit Kruibeke. De kunstmaan werd gelanceerd op 7 mei 2013 om 02:06 UTC vanop de lanceerbasis van Kourou met een Vega-raket van Arianespace. De Vega-raket bracht ook de Vietnamese aardobservatiesatelliet VNRedSat-1, gebouwd in Frankrijk, en de cubesats ESTCube-1, gebouwd door studenten van de Universiteit van Tartu in Estland, in een baan om de Aarde. De satelliet werd in een lage zonsynchrone baan om de Aarde gebracht (geplande hoogte 820 km), zodat hij om de twee dagen het volledige aardoppervlak kan in beeld brengen. (nl)
