| - Das Pandroseion (altgriechisch Πανδρόσειον) war ein Tempel auf der Akropolis von Athen. Er war Pandrosos, der Tochter des Kekrops I., geweiht, die als erste Priesterin der Göttin Athene galt. Er stand auf der Nordseite des Akropolis-Plateaus – dem Schauplatz der wichtigsten attischen Mythen. In diesem Bereich fand man auch die ältesten baulichen Überreste aus mykenischer Zeit. Estaba formado por una patio rectangular parcialmente rodeado de muros. Albergaba una estatua de Zeus Herceo (protector de la tierra) y el mítico olivo ofrecido por Atenea a la ciudad de Atenas después de su victoria sobre Poseidón por el control del Ática. El santuari consistia en un pati rectangular que contenia l'altar de Zeus Hèrkios (protector de la terra). El cantó sud-est donava accés a la tomba de Cècrops. El santuari també contenia l'olivera sagrada que hi va fer créixer Atena com a present per a la ciutat, després de la seva victòria sobre Posidó en la disputa sobre l'Àtica i el patronatge d'Atenes. The sanctuary was a walled trapezoidal courtyard containing the altar of Zeus Herkeios (protector of the hearth, of the courtyard) under the sacred Olive Tree planted by Athena. At the west was an entrance stoa from the Propylea. In the northeast corner was an elaborate entrance into the north porch and the entire Etrechtheion complex. At the east, there was also a small opening through which the Thalassa of Poseidon could be viewed. The south-east corner gave access to what some thought was the tomb of Cecrops. The sanctuary also contained the sacred olive tree which was presented by Athena to the city of Athens, after her victory over Poseidon in the contest for the land of Attica. (en)

Op de temenos (heilig domein) bevonden zich een aantal objecten die tot het voornaamste erfgoed van de Atheners behoorden: het graf van Kekrops, de stichter van Athene, een kleine tempel voor zijn dochter Pandrosos, de heilige olijfboom die daar ooit door Athena was geplant tijdens de wedstrijd met Poseidon om de macht over Athene, en ten slotte een altaar voor Zeus Herkeios. Het heiligdom wordt onder andere genoemd door Pausanias (‘tempel van Pandrosos’, I,27,2) en Apollodorus (‘Pandroseion’, III,14,1). Herodotus (VIII,55) vertelt dat er twee dagen na de verwoesting van de Akropolis door de Perzen (480 v.Chr.) al een nieuwe tak aan de stronk van de olijfboom was ontsproten. Na esquina nordeste havia uma entrada elaborada na varanda norte e todo o complexo Erecteion. No leste, havia também uma pequena abertura através da qual o Tálassa de Posidão podia ser visto. O canto sul-leste deu acesso ao que algum pensamento era o túmulo de Cécrope. (pt)
