- Paul-Marie-Adolphe Costermans (2 April 1860 – 9 March 1905) was a Belgian soldier and colonial civil servant. After a brief career in the Belgian Army, Costermans enlisted for service in the military of the Congo Free State, the Force Publique, in 1890 and later served in the colony's administration. During several periods of service in the colony, Costermans rose through the ranks. Between 1904 and his death in 1905, he held the position of Vice Governor-General of the Congo. (en)

In 1890 nam hij na een korte loopbaan in het Belgisch Leger dienst in de Openbare Weermacht, het koloniale leger van de Kongo-Vrijstaat. Costermans stroomde door naar de koloniale ambtenarij, waarin hij al snel opklom. Van 1904 tot zijn overlijden in 1905 deed hij zelfs dienst als vicegouverneur-generaal van de Kongo-Vrijstaat. (nl)
- Paul-Marie Costermans, né à Bruxelles le 2 avril 1860, décédé le 9 mars 1905 à Banana et inhumé au cimetière de Forest. Il fut un agent belge de l'État indépendant du Congo dont il fut l'un des principaux artisans du développement dans les années 1890. Il fut surnommé localement gondoko, le "léopard", pour sa manie due à son état de nervosité permanente d'arpenter de long en large sa véranda. Son nom fut donné à Costermansville, aujourd'hui Bukavu.
