Pecoraite is a nickel silicate mineral and a member of the serpentine group. It was named after geologist William Thomas Pecora. It is monoclinic and has a chemical composition of Ni3(Si2O5)(OH)4. It is associated with the weathering-and-or oxidation of meteorites or nickel sulfide minerals such as millerite. It is also found in altered ultramafic rocks. Pecoriate is typically a green, lime green, or bluegreen mineral with a waxy, or earthy luster and a mohs hardness of 2.5. Common textural habits associated with Pecoraite are curved plates, spirals and tubes. It can also be granular and massive.

- Pecorait (IMA-Symbol Pco) ist ein selten vorkommendes Mineral aus der Mineralklasse der „Silikate und Germanate“ mit der chemischen Zusammensetzung Ni6[(OH)8|Si4O10] und damit chemisch gesehen ein Nickel-Silikat mit zusätzlichen Hydroxidionen. Strukturell gehört Pecorait zu den Schichtsilikaten. Pecorait kristallisiert im monoklinen Kristallsystem und entwickelt gebogene Täfelchen, Röhrchen oder Spiralen bis etwa 4 µm Größe, kommt aber auch in Form körniger Aggregate bis etwa 5 mm Größe vor. Das durchsichtige bis durchscheinende Mineral ist von dunkelgrüner bis blaugrüner Farbe. Seine Strichfarbe ist dagegen eher blassgrün. Die Kristalloberflächen weisen einen glasähnlichen Glanz auf.
