Phthiotis and Phocis Prefecture (Greek: Νομός Φθιώτιδος και Φωκίδος) was a prefecture of Greece. It was first established in 1833 as the Phocis and Locris Prefecture (Νομός Φθιώτιδος και Λοκρίδος) but abolished in 1836 and reconstituted in 1845 under its later name. At the time, it lay on the Greek-Ottoman border. With the annexation of Thessaly by Greece in 1881, the prefecture's territory came to include the Domokos Province. The prefecture was split up into separate Phthiotis and Phocis prefectures in the 1899 reform, but this was reverted in 1909. The prefecture finally ceased to exist in 1943, when it was again split up into Phthiotis and Phocis. These existed until the abolition of the prefectures in 2011, when they were transformed into regional units of the Central Greece region.

Ο Νομός ιδρύθηκε για πρώτη φορά κατά τη διοικητική διαίρεση του τότε νεοσύστατου ελληνικού κράτους το 1833, αρχικά με την ονομασία "Νομός Φωκίδος & Λοκρίδος", ο οποίος περιελάμβανε τις μέχρι τότε επτά επαρχίες Σαλώνων, Γαλαξειδίου, Λιδωρικίου, Μαλανδρίνου, Ζητουνίου, Πατρατζικίου και Βουδουνίτσης. Μετέπειτα ο νομός αυτός χωρίστηκε σε τέσσερις επαρχίες και Πρωτεύουσα του νομού ορίστηκε η Άμφισσα: Το 1836 - 1837 καταργήθηκε ο νομός, με την εισαγωγή του συστήματος διοικήσεων - υποδιοικήσεων, διαιρέθηκε στις διοικήσεις Φωκίδος και Φθιώτιδος και τις υποδιοικήσεις Δωρίδος και Λοκρίδος. Το 1845 ιδρύθηκε εκ νέου ο παλαιός νομός, με την ονομασία "Νομός Φθιώτιδος και Φωκίδος", με την έδρα του νομού να μεταφέρεται στη Λαμία. Το 1899 ο νομός διασπάστηκε σε δυο ξεχωριστούς νομούς και έτσι για πρώτη φορά ιδρύθηκαν δύο ξεχωριστοί νομοί, ο Νομός Φωκίδος (με έδρα την Άμφισσα) και ο Νομός Φθιώτιδος (με έδρα τη Λαμία), στον νομό Φθιώτιδας εντάχθηκε και η Επαρχία Δομοκού στον οποίο παρέμεινε μέχρι το 1909. Στο διάστημα 1909-1911 επανήλθε στον Νομό Λαρίσης και από το 1911 επανεντάχθηκε στον νομό Φθιώτιδας και παρέμεινε αμετάβλητη τα επόμενα χρόνια μέχρι την κατάργησή της το 1997. Το 1909 με τη διοικητική διαίρεση της Ελλάδας του 1909 δημιουργήθηκαν ξανά οι 16 νομοί και επανιδρύθηκε για δεύτερη φορά ο νομός Φθιώτιδος και Φωκίδος (Φθιωτιδοφωκίδος), με πρωτεύουσα νομού την Λαμία. Στις 31 Μαρτίου 1943 διασπάστηκε ξανά, αυτή τη φορά οριστικά μέχρι και σήμερα, με τον νομό Φωκίδας να αποτελείται από τις δύο επαρχίες (Παρνασσίδα και Δωρίδα), μέχρι την κατάργηση των επαρχιών και την ίδρυση των καποδιστριακών δήμων το 1997.
