Ponte San Giovanni is a frazione of the city of Perugia, Italy. It has 13,296 inhabitants and is one of the largest and most populated neighbourhoods in the capital city of Umbria. It is also the seat of the eighth ward of the city of Perugia. The city has also its own football team, A.S.D. Pontevecchio, currently playing in the Italian Serie D (fifth tier) and is the birthplace of Italian top-flight football manager Serse Cosmi. The local citizens are called ponteggiani.

È discussa la sua qualificazione come "quartiere" della città di Perugia per ragioni non solo di geografia urbana ma anche storico-culturali. È sede principale della Sede Territoriale n.3: Tiberina Sud del Comune di Perugia. Dagli anni settanta in poi la frazione ha vissuto un forte aumento demografico, che l'ha portata ad essere tra le più popolose della città. Geograficamente situato al limite sud-est del territorio di Perugia (circa 7 km dal centro cittadino), a circa 180 m s.l.m., il fiume Tevere ne traccia il confine con il limitrofo comune di Torgiano. Il territorio è suddiviso in una parte pianeggiante, attorno all'alveo fluviale, ed in una parte collinare, a segnare i primi contrafforti del colle di Perugia. Recentemente, specie nell'ambito trasportistico, sembra essere invalsa l'abitudine di abbreviare il nome della frazione con l'acronimo PSG. Gli abitanti sono indicati con il nome di ponteggiani. (it)
