Porta Alpina (from Romansh: Alpine Gate) was a proposed railway station to be located in the middle of the Gotthard Base Tunnel, serving the Alpine village of Sedrun in Switzerland. It was intended to promote tourism and the economy in the region of Graubünden. The project was put on hold as uneconomical in 2007, and then indefinitely shelved in 2012. The current multifunction station is only used for emergency stops and maintenance. The portal lies 800 m (2,600 ft) above the tunnel.

Op de plaats van het voorgestelde station bevindt zich wel een noodhalte, waar bij calamiteiten passagiers kunnen overstappen op een trein in de andere tunnelbuis. | - Porta Alpina war der Arbeitstitel eines Projektes einer unterirdischen Bahnstation in der Mitte des schweizerischen Gotthard-Basistunnels mit Anbindung des Ortes Sedrun und der ganzen Surselva ans europäische Hochgeschwindigkeitseisenbahnnetz. Mit der Porta Alpina wäre in der Mitte des längsten Eisenbahntunnels der Welt die tiefste Bahnstation mit dem höchsten und schnellsten Lift der Welt und damit eine international vermarktbare Attraktion entstanden. Die Eröffnung der Station war zusammen mit der Inbetriebnahme des Gotthard-Basistunnels vorgesehen, später aber insbesondere aus finanziellen Gründen nicht mehr weiterverfolgt. Das Projekt führte zu Schaffung von Hallen tief im Gotthardmassiv, die seit dem Entscheid, das Projekt nicht mit Inbetriebnahme des Tunnels auszuführen, brach liegen. Über deren touristische Nutzung werden seit 2012 Konzepte untersucht. 2020 wurde ein Vorstoss im kantonalen Parlament zur Wiederaufnahme von Verhandlungen einstimmig angenommen. Damit rückte wieder eine zukünftige Nutzung als Station und nicht nur als touristische Attraktion in den Vordergrund. (de)
