Protitanops curryi is an extinct species of brontothere that lived during the Eocene, in the Western United States, especially in Death Valley, California, where the best specimens of the species P. curryi have been found. It bore a strong resemblance to Megacerops brontotheres with its knob-shaped horns. However, the position of the horns differed in Protitanops, in that they pointed straight up, rather than more forwards, like in Megacerops.

Dier Gattung war im Oberen Eozän vor rund 39 bis 36 Millionen Jahren im heutigen Nordamerika verbreitet. Wichtige Fundstellen finden sich in Kalifornien, in Texas und im nördlichen Mexiko. Es handelt sich um einen großen Angehörigen der Brontotherien, der wie andere, entwickelte Formen der Gruppe über charakteristische knöcherne Hörner auf dem Schädel verfügte. Weitere definierende Merkmale finden sich unter anderem in den aufgeschwollenen Jochbögen und in dem relativ kurzen Naseninnenraum. Wissenschaftlich eingeführt wurde Protitanops im Jahr 1936.
