Robert Bateman (1560 – 11 December 1644) was an English merchant and politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1614 and 1626. Bateman was the son of Richard Bateman of Hartington and his wife Ellen Topleyes, daughter of William Topleyes of Tissington Derbyshire. He was baptised at Hartington on 8 September 1561. He was an eminent merchant in the City of London and a member of the Worshipful Company of Skinners. Bateman died at the age of 84, bequeathing lands in Essex, Dorset and Denbighshire.
