| - El Rockwell XFV-12 fue un prototipo de caza embarcado de la década de 1970 para la Armada de los Estados Unidos. El XFV-12 combinaba la velocidad Mach 2 y los misiles AIM-7 Sparrow del caza F-4 Phantom II con las características de un avión de aterrizaje y despegue vertical (VTOL) para ser desplegado en los entonces futuribles , un diseño de portaaviones de escaso desplazamiento, y que estaban siendo estudiados al mismo tiempo. - Le Rockwell XFV-12 est un prototype d'avion à décollage et atterrissage vertical conçu par Rockwell International en 1977. Sa conception avait pour objectif de combiner les capacités de vitesse et d'emport du McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II, le tout dans un appareil VTOL pour embarquer sur le Sea Control Ship alors en projet à cette époque. - The Rockwell XFV-12 was a prototype supersonic United States Navy fighter which was built in 1977. The XFV-12 design attempted to combine the Mach 2 speed and AIM-7 Sparrow armament of the McDonnell Douglas F-4 Phantom II in a VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) fighter for the small Sea Control Ship which was under study at the time. On paper, it looked superior to the subsonic Hawker Siddeley Harrier attack fighter. However it was unable to demonstrate an untethered vertical takeoff and its inability to meet performance requirements terminated the program. (en)

- Die North American Rockwell XFV-12 war ein für den Einsatz bei der US-Navy vorgesehenes Überschall-VTOL-Kampfflugzeugprojekt. Der Entwurf NR-356 von North American Aviation setzte sich gegen 10 weitere Vorschläge, zu denen z. B. die Convair Model 200 gehörte, durch. Die Entwicklung der XFV-12 begann 1972 und war als Ergänzung für die AV-8 Harrier gedacht. Diese sollte dann ausschließlich für Luft-Boden-Einsätze eingesetzt werden, wohingegen der XFV-12 die Luftraumsicherung zugedacht war. Wie die Harrier sollte auch die XFV-12 auf amphibischen Angriffsschiffen stationiert werden. (de)
