The Rodenbek is a right-hand, northern tributary of the River Alster in North Germany and, together with the Bredenbek and Lottbek, as well as other small streams, is part of the meltwater basin of the Rodenbek Glacial Valley (Rodenbeker Quellental) that was formed in the Weichselian Ice Age. Like the other rivers in the glacial valley, the Rodenbek flows in an east–west direction to the Alster, a tributary of the Elbe.

El riu, aleshores molt més llarg, va excavar el seu llit sota la glacera. Poc després de la font desemboca a un pantà de molí Rodenbeker Teich del qual el primer esment escrit data del segle xiv. Al segle xx el riu va rectificar-se i transformar-se en claveguera oberta monofuncional que només servia per al desguàs. Els protectors de la natura de l'associació NABU van «anul·lar la condemnació a mort» (Josep Nyary) i renaturalitzar el riu i els seus meandres: uns 17 peixos i uns 38 ocells diferents van tornar a establir-se a la vall del bek. Pel que fa als mamífers, el retorn de la lludria va encantar i conduir a mesures de protecció.

In der Rodenbek wurden neben den in der Alster vorkommenden Fischarten auch Quappen, Moderlieschen, Hasel und Stichlinge beobachtet. Die 2,8 Hektar großen idyllischen mit Seerosen bewachsenen Rodenbeker Teiche werden vom Sportfischerverein Rahlstedt von 1934 e. V. bewirtschaftet und mit Karpfen, Schleien, Hechten, Flussbarschen und Aalen besetzt. (de)

As well as being home to fish that occur in the Alster, burbot, sunbleak, common dace and stickleback have also been observed in the Rodenbek. The ponds of the Rodenbeker Teiche, 2.8 hectares in area, with their water lilies are looked after by the Rahlstedt Anglers (Sportfischerverein Rahlstedt von 1934 e. V.) and stocked with carp, tench, pike, perch and eel. (en)
