SS Athenic was a British passenger liner built by Harland & Wolff shipyards for the White Star Line in 1901. In 1928, she came to a Norwegian company and was renamed SS Pelagos. Torpedoed in 1944, she was refloated the following year and continued to serve until her demolition in 1962.

Sie wurde 1945 gehoben und blieb bis zu ihrem Abbruch 1962 in Hamburg unter norwegischer Flagge. (en) SS Athenic byl parník společnosti White Star Line vybudovaný v loděnicích Harland & Wolff v Belfastu. Sloužil jako nákladní loď s chladicím zařízením, takže mohl převážet i zmražené maso, ale měl i prostory pro cestující. Na svou první plavbu z Londýna přes Kapské Město do Wellingtonu vyplul 13. února 1902. Na této trase sloužil až do roku 1917. Od roku 1920 sloužil na trase Londýn (později Liverpool) - Panama - Wellington a 3. května 1920 zachránil posádku z lodi společnosti Munamar, která ztroskotala poblíž San Salvadoru. Na svou poslední plavbu Liverpool - Wellington vyplul 18. října 1927. V květnu 1928 byl prodán Brunn & von der Lippe, upraven na velrybářskou loď. Byl předán do vlastnictví Hvalfangerselskapet Pelagos A/S a přejmenován na Pelagos. V roce 1941 byl dostižen a zajat Němci (cs) L'Athenic est un paquebot-mixte britannique mis en service par la White Star Line en 1902. Construit par les chantiers Harland & Wolff de Belfast, il est le premier d'une série de trois navires destinés au transport de passagers mais surtout d'une importante cargaison à destination de la Nouvelle-Zélande. S'ils appartiennent à la White Star, les trois navires sont exploités en service conjoint avec la Shaw, Savill & Albion Line. (fr)
