The Sammlung für Völkerkunde (German for Ethnological Collection) at the Institute of Cultural and Social Anthropology of the University of Göttingen is one of Germany's most important ethnological collections. The museum was founded around 1780 and revived around 1930, and is now funded by the state of Lower Saxony. Träger ist das Land Niedersachsen. Der Naturforscher Johann Friedrich Blumenbach brachte im 18. Jahrhundert die Cook-Forstersammlung und die Sammlung Baron von Asch nach Göttingen. Die Ausstellungsfläche beträgt heute etwa 300 m² auf zwei Etagen, die Sammlung beinhaltet etwa 17.000 Exponate. Am 6. Februar 2000 wurde die Dauerausstellung wiedereröffnet und ist sonntags für Besucher offen. Schwerpunkte sind die Südsee mit der Cook-Forstersammlung (Hawaii, Tahiti, Tonga und Neuseeland) sowie Sibirien und Polarregion mit der Sammlung Baron von Asch. (de)

Ustanowione zostało w 1780, odnowione w 1930, zawiera około 17 000 eksponatów etnograficznych. Powierzchnia wystawiennicza wynosi około 300 m² rozłożonych na dwa piętra. Istotnymi elementami ekspozycji są pochodzące z drugiej wyprawy Cooka i sprowadzone przez Georga Forstera zbiory z mórz południowych (Hawaje, Tahiti, Tonga i Nowa Zelandia), a także pochodzące od barona von Asch przedmioty z Syberii i obszarów polarnych.
