Samuel Lee (14 May 1783 – 16 December 1852) was an English Orientalist, born in Shropshire; professor at Cambridge, first of Arabic and then of Hebrew language; was the author of a Hebrew grammar and lexicon, and a translation of the Book of Job.

rdfs:comment	صموئيل لي (بالإنجليزية: Samuel Lee)‏ (1783 - 1852 م) هو مستشرق ولغوي إنكليزي. كان أستاذ اللغة العربية ومن ثم اللغة العبرية في كامبريدج. ساعد صموئيل لي في وضع أول قاموس للغة الماورية حيث بنى على عمل المبشر توماس كيندل من جمعية تبشير الكنيسة التابعة لكنيسة إنجلترا وكل من زعيم الماوري هونغي هيكا والزعيم تيتور الذي قاد قبيلة نغابوهي. أوكلت إليه «جمعية ترقية المعارف المسيحية» Church Missionary Society مهمة تصحيح نقل «الكتاب المقدس» إلى اللغة العربية. ومن آثاره: أسفار ابن بطوطة، نقلا عن مخطوط عربي (لندن 1829 م). Lee, som föddes av fattiga föräldrar, var timmerarbetare, då mecenater beredde honom tillfälle att studera, blev 1819 professor i arabiska och 1833 i hebreiska i Cambridge. Till hans arbeten hör Grammar of the Hebrew language (2:a upplagan 1831), Hebrew, Chaldaic and English lexicon (1840) samt syriska, malajiska, persiska och hindustanska bibelupplagor med mera. (sv)
