Seaman Service Book (SSB) is a continuous record of a seaman’s service. This document certifies that the person holding is a seaman as per the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch keeping for Seafarers (STCW), 1978, as amended from time to time. Seaman Book is one of the compulsory document for applying crew transit visas. The record of employment on board of a merchant ship (sea service) is recorded in a Seaman Service Book. Different countries issue to their seafarers the similar service book with different names i.e. Seaman Record Book, Seaman Discharge Book etc. In Pakistan Government Shipping Office issue this book under section 120 of Merchant Shipping Ordinance, 2001. - La libreta de inscripción marítima o libreta marítima, es un documento oficial de identidad aceptado internacionalmente, y en el que figuran los embarques y desembarques de su titular. En España, se puede solicitar en cualquier capitanía marítima o en los Servicios centrales de la Dirección General de la Marina Mercante, siendo alumno de una Facultad o Escuela oficial de Náutica, de un Instituto Marítimo Pesquero o presentando el certificado de formación básica (que engloba los antiguos certificados de competencia de marinero, supervivencia en la mar (nivel I) y contraincendios (nivel I)). Una vez obtenida, sólo hay que renovar la fotografía del titular, que va en la portada de la Libreta, cada cinco años. (es)

- Książeczka żeglarska (książka żeglarska) – podstawowy dokument marynarzy zatrudnionych na statkach handlowych, stwierdzający tożsamość, dokumentujący przebieg pracy oraz umożliwiający przekraczanie granicy morskiej i pobyt we wszystkich portach świata. Książeczkę żeglarską wydaje organ administracji rządowej niezespolonej – Dyrektor Urzędu Morskiego, a za granicą placówki konsularne.
