Usen els endònims taaqtam, que vol dir "poble"; maarenga'yam, "gent de "; i yuhaviatam, "poble dels pins." Avui els maarenga'yam són registrats en la Banda Morongo d'Indis de Missió, i els yuhaviatam en la Banda San Manuel d'Indis de Missió. Essi vengono anche indicati con gli esonimi di Taaqtam (popolo), Maarenga'yam (popolo proveniente da ) e Yuhaviatam (popolo dei pini). Storicamente popolavano le San Bernardino Mountains raggiungendo ad est il deserto del Mojave ed a nord le San Gabriel Mountains attraverso la fino ai Monti Tehachapi nel sud della California. (it)
- The Serrano are an indigenous people of California. They use the autonyms of Taaqtam, meaning "people"; Maarrênga’yam, "people from Morongo"; and Yuhaaviatam, "people of the pines." Today the Maarrênga'yam are enrolled in the Morongo Band of Mission Indians, and the Yuhaviatam are enrolled in the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians. Additionally, some Serrano people are enrolled in the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians. The Serrano historically lived in the San Bernardino Mountains and other Transverse Ranges, and in the southern Mojave Desert, within Southern California. (en)
