- Shanawdithit (ca. 1801 – June 6, 1829), also noted as Shawnadithititis, Shawnawdithit, Nancy April and Nancy Shanawdithit, was the last known living member of the Beothuk people, who inhabited Newfoundland, Canada. Remembered for her contributions to the historical understanding of Beothuk culture, including drawings depicting interactions with European settlers, Shanawdithit died of tuberculosis in St. John's, Newfoundland on June 6, 1829. Tras la captura de la tía de Shanawdithit, , en 1819, los últimos beothuk huyeron. Fue capturada con su madre y hermana en primavera de 1823. Su padre había muerto anteriormente tratando de escapar de un grupo de cazadores. - Shanawdithit (* vermutlich 1801; † 6. Juni 1829 in St. John’s (Neufundland)), auch Nancy April, war vermutlich die letzte Überlebende des in Neufundland beheimateten Indianerstammes der Beothuk. Sie wurde im Jahre 1823 gemeinsam mit ihrer Mutter und deren Schwester von einer Gruppe englischer Siedler gefangen genommen. Man nimmt an, dass sie 1801 geboren wurde. Im Frühling 1823 starb ihr Vater, als er auf der Flucht vor einer Gruppe weißer Jäger im Eis einbrach. Hungrig und ohne männlichen Schutz irrten die drei Frauen umher, bis sie auf Weiße trafen. Man brachte die Beothuk-Frauen nach St. John’s, wo Shanawdithits Mutter und Tante an Tuberkulose starben. (de)
