Pomysłodawcą powstania Cupoli był boss nad bossami Lucky Luciano, który namówił na takie rozwiązanie kilku sycylijskich mafiosów m.in. Tommaso Buscettę i Salvatore "Cichiteddu" Greco. - Die sizilianische Mafia-Kommission, auch bekannt als Kuppel (italienisch cupola) oder einfach als Kommission, ist eine Versammlung der wichtigsten Oberhäupter der sizilianischen Verbrecherorganisation Cosa Nostra.
