The Spoonmaker's Diamond (Turkish: Kaşıkçı Elması) is an 86 carat (17.2g) pear-shaped diamond in the Imperial Treasury exhibitions at the Topkapi Palace Museum in Istanbul, Turkey, and its most valuable single exhibit. It is considered the fourth largest diamond of its kind in the world. Set in silver, surrounded by a double row of 49 Old-mine cut diamonds (brilliants), it hangs in a glass case on the wall of the third room in Imperial Treasury section of Topkapı's "Conqueror’s Pavilion".

Ces brillants séparés lui donnent « l'apparence d'une pleine lune éclairant un ciel où brillent les étoiles ». Ce complément ajoute à la beauté du diamant, et augmentent d'autant sa valeur. These surrounding separate brilliants give it "the appearance of a full moon lighting a bright and shining sky amidst the stars" and are considered to have been commissioned either by Ali Pasha or by Sultan Mahmud II – though this, as all other details of the diamond's origins, is doubtful and disputed. Een derde juwelier suste de ruzie en gaf beide collegae een beurs vol zilveren munten. De steen werd door Grootvizier Kopruluzade Ahmed Pasha, die van de steen en de ruzie hoorde, in beslag genomen en aan sultan Mehmed IV gegeven. Het is niet bekend hoe de vorst de juwelier schadeloos heeft gesteld. De steen bevond zich sindsdien in het Topkapıpaleis. De sultans hebben de in een ring van 49 kleinere stenen gezette diamant waarschijnlijk als aigrette op hun tulband gedragen. Sinds de troonsafstand van de laatste sultan wordt de lepelmakerdiamant in het Topkapimuseum tentoongesteld. Letizia Ramolino, alias Madame Mère, de moeder van Napoleon I, kocht de steen en verkocht hem in 1815. Een Ottomaans edelman verwierf de steen voor 150.000 goudstukken en pas nadat deze in opdracht van Sultan Mahmut II ter dood was gebracht kwam de steen in de collectie van de Turkse vorst. (nl)
