| - Strange Fruit Records ist eines der erfolgreichsten britischen Independent-Label, das im September 1986 von John Peel und seinem Freund Clive Selwood gegründet wurde. Hauptaufgabe war die Veröffentlichung der Peel Sessions: Künstler spielten auf Peels Einladung live im Studio der BBC. Davon wurden (meist) vier Stücke ausgewählt und als EP herausgebracht. Erste Veröffentlichung war dann auch die 1982 aufgezeichnete zweite Session der damals noch unbekannten New Order. Außerdem lizenziert Strange Fruit einige aus dem Katalog anderer Plattenfirmen gestrichene Alben, u. a. von Small Faces, Mott the Hoople, Humble Pie und Emerson, Lake & Palmer. (de)
- Strange Fruit Records was an independent record label in the United Kingdom. The label, established by and John Peel in 1986, was the primary distributor of BBC recordings, including Peel Sessions. The name came from the song written by Abel Meeropol and famously performed by Billie Holiday, itself a reference to racially motivated lynchings. The label had the aim of generating sufficient revenue from recordings of 'big name' artists to allow the release of recordings by lesser-known artists. The label's first release was New Order's 1982 Peel Session, in July 1987, and was followed by sessions from some of the biggest names from the punk rock and post punk eras. Recordings from as far back as the 1960s were also released by the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. As well as (en)

Era una divisione del gruppo ; si occupava anche di distribuire album pubblicati fuori dall'Inghilterra da altre etichette (come nel caso della canadese) e di ripubblicare album fuori stampa di vecchi artisti come Mott the Hoople e Emerson, Lake & Palmer. - Strange Fruit Records is een onafhankelijk Brits platenlabel, in 1986 opgericht door diskjockey John Peel en zijn vriend Clive Selwood. Dit label werd vooral bekend door het op de markt brengen van de beroemde Peel Sessions. De naam van het label was ontleend aan het liedje "Strange Fruit" van , beroemd geworden door de uitvoering van Billie Holiday. Strange Fruit was onderdeel van de Zomba Group en toen deze groep ondernemingen fuseerde met BMG sloot Strange Fruit de deuren, in 2004. Het laatste album was een plaat met de volledige Peel Sessions van New Order. Zes maanden later overleed Peel. (nl)
