SwePol is a 254.05-kilometre (157.86 mi)-long monopolar high-voltage direct current (HVDC) submarine cable between the Stärnö peninsula near Karlshamn, Sweden, and Bruskowo Wielkie, near Słupsk, Poland. The link was inaugurated in 2000 and can transmit up to 600 MW power at a voltage of 450 kV. Unlike other monopolar HVDC schemes, Swepol uses a metallic return consisting of 2 cables with 630 square millimetres (0.98 sq in) sections for the submarine portion of the line, and a single cable with 1,100 square millimetres (1.7 sq in) sections for the land portions.

Die HGÜ Swepol ging im Jahr 2000 in Betrieb. In Schweden wird sie auch als Polenkabeln bezeichnet. Sie hat eine Betriebsspannung von 450 kV und eine maximale Übertragungsleistung von 600 MW. Sie verfügt über das zurzeit viertlängste Hochspannungs-Seekabel der Welt. Die Swepol besteht neben den 239,28 km Seekabelabschnitt aus zwei Landkabelabschnitten, einen von 2,22 km Länge in Schweden von der Ostseeküste zur Stromrichterstation in einem ehemaligen Steinbruch in und einem 12,55 km langen in Polen vom Anlandungspunkt in Ustka zur Stromrichterstation in Bruskowo Wielkie. Den går mellan Stärnöhalvön, elområde SE4, utanför Karlshamn, Sverige, och nära Słupsk i Polen. Karlshamns kommun motsatte sig då istället projektet med motiveringen att kabeln skulle ge olägenheter för svensk miljö till följd av att den skulle möjliggöra import av billig elström från Polen producerad med stora utsläpp av svavel och kväve. Frågan drevs ända till Miljööverdomstolen, som dock avvisade dessa invändningar i november 2000. (sv)
