Estas obras se publicaron con el título de The Adventures of Sweet Gwendoline (Las Aventuras de Gwendoline), y posiblemente constituyan el más famoso icono del bondage después de la pin-up Bettie Page. Las historietas aparecieron por vez primera en la revista Bizarre en 1946, siendo publicadas por entregas, normalmente de doble página, en diferentes revistas a lo largo de los años 50. O vilão Sir Dystic D'Arcy foi baseado no próprio autor. Apesar de ter sido comparada à The Perils of Pauline, Willie afirmou que nunca havia ouvido falar sobre este filme até o fim de sua carreira. Hon är en kurvig blondin som i nästan alla historier blir kidnappad och bunden av skurken Sir Dystic D'Arcy och sedan vanligtvis räddad av den lika kurviga brunetten Secret Agent U-69. D'Arcy var delvis baserad på Willie själv. Det tyska punkbandet Die Ärzte har gjort en låt om Sweet Gwendoline och använder en bild på henne bakbunden som sin symbol.
