Take Back the Night is an international event and non-profit organization with the mission of ending sexual, relationship, and domestic violence in all forms. Hundreds of events are held in over 30 countries annually. Events often include marches, rallies and vigils intended as a protest and direct action against rape and other forms of sexual, relationship and domestic violence. In 2001, a group of women who had participated in the earliest Take Back the Night marches, came together to form the Take Back the Night Foundation in support of the events throughout the United States and the world.

Las primeras convocatorias se organizaron en la década de los años 70 del siglo XX como protestas de mujeres que no se sentían seguras caminando solas por la calle en la noche. En 1973 el movimiento llegó a Estados Unidos y un grupo de mujeres de la Universidad del Sur de Florida se vistieron con sábanas negras y marcharon por el campus exigiendo un centro para mujeres. Se han organizado convocatorias en 30 países. Incluyen marchas, concentraciones y vigilias destinadas a generar protestas y acción directa en contra de la violación y otras formas de violencia sexual. - Heksennacht is een jaarlijks op 19 mei terugkerende feministische betoging tegen seksueel geweld tegen vrouwen in de openbare ruimte. De verbindende slogan is "Vrouwen eisen de nacht terug". De naam heksennacht is een van de varianten waaronder de demonstraties bekendstaan.
