Tom Hanneman (June 29, 1952 – December 17, 2020) was an American play-by-play television announcer for the Minnesota Timberwolves basketball team of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and had been with the franchise since its inception in 1989 until he joined Fox Sports North in 2012. Prior to that, Hanneman was a sports and general assignment reporter for CBS affiliate WCCO-TV in Minneapolis, Minnesota. During his time at WCCO, Hanneman drew national attention when he was held hostage while covering the 1979 Red Lake Indian Reservation uprising. His time as a Timberwolves commentator also led to him doing some national and international NBA broadcasts. Tom Hanneman died on December 18, 2020. He was 68 years old at the time of his death.
