The ship was built in 2010 on Karstensens Skibsværft A/S in Skagen, Denmark. Tróndur í Gøtu lands most of its catches to the pelagic fish factory Varðin Pelagic in Tvøroyri and to Havsbrún in Fuglafjørður.
