| - La Resolució 1268 del Consell de Seguretat de les Nacions Unides, adoptada per unanimitat el 15 d'octubre de 1999 després de reafirmar la resolució 696 (1991) i totes les resolucions posteriors sobre Angola, en especial la 1229 (1999) i la 1237 (1999) el Consell va establir l' (UNOA) per establir contacte amb autoritats polítiques, militars, policials i altres civils. El Consell de Seguretat va reafirmar que la situació actual a Angola va ser causada pel fracàs d'UNITA sota el lideratge de Jonas Savimbi de complir amb les obligacions que li incumbeixen pels acords de pau i el Protocol de Lusaka, així com les pertinents Resolucions del Consell de Seguretat. La conciliació nacional i la pau duradora només es podien assolir mitjançant la implementació dels acords esmentats i era necessària la presència contínua de les Nacions Unides a Angola. L'UNOA es va establir per un període inicial de sis mesos fins al 15 d'abril de 2000 amb 30 empleats i personal de suport necessaris per establir relacions amb les autoritats polítiques, militars, policials i civils d'Angola per tal d'explorar mesures per restablir la pau, promoure els drets humans i proporcionar ajuda humanitària. El govern d'Angola i el secretari general Kofi Annan foren convocats per concloure un i a aquest últim se li ha sol·licitat informar cada tres mesos amb recomanacions sobre el procés de pau i altres desenvolupaments. - قرار مجلس الأمن التابع للأمم المتحدة رقم 1268، المتخذ بالإجماع في 15 تشرين الأول / أكتوبر 1999، بعد إعادة التأكيد على القرار 696 (1991) وجميع القرارات اللاحقة بشأن أنغولا، ولا سيما القراران 1229 (1999) و1237 (1999)، أنشأ المجلس مكتب الأمم المتحدة في أنغولا للتنسيق مع السلطات السياسية والعسكرية والشرطية وغيرها من السلطات المدنية. وأكد مجلس الأمن من جديد أن الحالة الراهنة في أنغولا ناجمة عن فشل يونيتا بقيادة جوناس سافيمبي في الامتثال لالتزاماتها بموجب اتفاقات السلام وبروتوكول لوساكا وقرارات مجلس الأمن ذات الصلة. ولا يمكن تحقيق المصالحة الوطنية والسلام الدائم إلا من خلال تنفيذ الاتفاقات المذكورة أعلاه، ومن الضروري استمرار وجود الأمم المتحدة في أنغولا. سيُنشأ مكتب الأمم المتحدة في أنغولا لفترة أولية مدتها ستة أشهر حتى 15 نيسان / أبريل 2000 ويعمل به 30 فردا وموظف دعم ضروريين للاتصال بالسلطات السياسية والعسكرية والشرطية وغيرها من السلطات المدنية في أنغولا لاستكشاف تدابير لاستعادة السلام وتعزيز حقوق الإنسان وتقديم المساعدة الإنسانية. تمت دعوة الحكومة الأنغولية والأمين العام كوفي عنان لإبرام اتفاقية وضع القوات وطلب الأخير تقديم تقرير كل ثلاثة أشهر بتوصيات بشأن عملية السلام والتطورات الأخرى. - United Nations Security Council resolution 1268, adopted unanimously on 15 October 1999, after reaffirming Resolution 696 (1991) and all subsequent resolutions on Angola, particularly resolutions 1229 (1999) and 1237 (1999), the council established the (UNOA) to liaise with political, military, police and other civilian authorities. The security council reaffirmed that the present situation in Angola was caused by the failure of UNITA under the leadership of Jonas Savimbi to comply with its obligations under the Accordos de Paz, Lusaka Protocol and relevant Security Council resolutions. National reconciliation and lasting peace could only be achieved through the implementation of the aforementioned agreements and the continued presence of the United Nations in Angola was necessary. UNOA would be established for an initial period of six months until 15 April 2000 staffed with 30 personnel and support staff necessary to liaise with political, military, police and other civilian authorities in Angola to explore measures to restore peace, promote human rights and provide humanitarian assistance. The Angolan government and the Secretary-General Kofi Annan were called upon to conclude a Status of Forces Agreement and the latter requested to report every three months with recommendations on the peace process and other developments.
