(ru) Horní Alsasko (jižní Alsasko) byl stát (lankrabství) Svaté říše římské (celý název zněl německy Landgrafschaft Oberelsass – Lankrabství Horní Alsasko) od 12. do roku 1648. Po téměř celou dobu existence bylo v držení rodu Habsburků, a to již od roku 1186, kdy ho s titulem „vévody alsaského“ (elisatiae dux) získal Albrecht III. Habsburský od císaře Fridricha Barbarossy. Pečeť rakouského vévody Arnošta s erby habsburských zemí (cs) Como el Pagus alsaciano estaba dividido en dos Pagi más pequeños, el Sundgau y el Nordgau, los cuales tenían cada uno su jurisdicción particular, se forman más tarde dos landgraviatos distintos: el Sundgau superior y el Nordgau inferior. Así Sundgau, Landgraviato de la Alta Alsacia, Landgraviato superior y Alsacia superior son sinónimos. Esta calificación, tomada en el sentido más extenso, se aplica a la vez al landgraviato propiamente dicho y a las tierras llamadas landgraviales, ya que ellas estaban no solamente bajo jurisdicción del Landgrave, sino que a la vez formaban parte de su dominio. En efecto, los Emperadores habían concedido a sus landgraves y a título de salario algunos bienes desprendidos de sus propiedades privadas.
