- Vasile Urechea Alexandrescu, né Vasile Alexandrescu le 15 février 1834 à Piatra Neamț en Moldavie et mort le 22 novembre 1901 à Bucarest, est une figure de la renaissance culturelle roumaine, historien, écrivain, homme politique, ministre et membre fondateur de l'Académie roumaine. Il est spécialiste de l'histoire roumaine, et publia des synthèses et notes bibliographiques, héraldiques, ethnographiques et folkloristes. Il était également un écrivain francophone. Il ajouta le pseudonyme d'Urechea (l'oreille) dans sa vie d'adulte et signa également de ce nom. (fr)

The author of Romanian history syntheses, a noted bibliographer, heraldist, ethnographer and folklorist, he founded and managed a private school, later holding teaching positions at the University of Iași and University of Bucharest. Urechia was also one of the founding members of the Romanian Academy and, as frequent traveler to Spain and fluent speaker of Spanish, a corresponding member of the Roya (en)
