The Verzeichnis der im deutschen Sprachbereich erschienenen Drucke des 16. Jahrhunderts (VD 16) (in English: Bibliography of Books Printed in the German Speaking Countries of the Sixteenth Century), abbreviated VD 16, is a project to make a retrospective German national bibliography for the sixteenth century. The project was compiled during the period 1969–1999. It is financed by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (German Research Foundation).

Jahrhunderts) je označení pro retrospektivní národní bibliografii německých tisků 16. století (tisky tištěné v rozmezí 1501–1600). Projekt byl podporován v letech 1969 až 1999 . Partnery byly Herzog August Bibliothek a od roku 1990 Landes- und Forschungsbibliothek Gotha (dnes ) pod vedením . Výsledná bibliografie má formu uzavřeného knižního vydání (do roku 1999, eviduje na 75 000 titulů), od roku 2003 má také podobu doplňované elektronické databáze on-line. Od vydání tištěné bibliografie se podařilo doplnit okolo 25 000 titulů (díky zahraničním knihovnám, také Sbírce německých tisků, které získala bavorská knihovna). Ovšem posléze k doplňování nedocházelo příliš rychle, od roku 2003 do roku 2007 se jednalo pouze o 1700 doplňků. Odhad z roku 2011 tvrdí, že bibliografie zahrnuje pouze okolo poloviny tisků, které by v ní měly být zaznamenány. Vedle VD 16 již existuje VD 17 (pro 17. století) a připravuje se (pro 18. století). Projekt má podobnou funkci jako pro anglickojazyčné tisky. (cs)

Le projet a été réalisé durant la période 1969-1999. Il a été financé par le Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (Fondation allemande de recherche). Le catalogue bibliographique national des livres du XVIe siècle a commencé en 1969 en collaboration avec la Bayerische Staatsbibliothek, avec la Herzog August Bibliothek de Wolfenbüttel, depuis 1990 aussi avec la Landes- und Forschungsbibliothek Gotha (maintenant la Bibliothèque universitaire et de recherche Erfurt / Gotha) et le soutien de la Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG ). Avec 22 volumes et 2 volumes d'index, le catalogue a été achevé en 2000. La base de données VD 16 est accessible via Internet. Elle permet de rechercher l'ensemble des données de VD 16. La base de données est en constante expansion avec de nouvelles notices bibliographiques; les notices bibliographiques sont progressivement modifiées et sont également mises à jour avec les documents d'inventaire supplémentaires. La base de données contient actuellement environ 110 000 titres, dont environ 27 000 enregistrés dans le supplément. Il existe une bibliographie rétrospective nationale allemande pour le XVIIe siècle, connue sous le sigle VD 17. À côté de VD 16 et VD 17 est prévu (Verzeichnis der im deutschen Sprachraum erschienenen Drucke des 18. Jahrhunderts). Ces projets remplissent pour l'histoire bibliographique de la zone culturelle allemande la fonction semblable au English Short Title Catalogue pour la Grande-Bretagne et l'Amérique du Nord. (fr)

There is a corresponding German national bibliography for the seventeenth century, known as VD 17. Together the VD 16 and VD 17 alongside the planned (Verzeichnis der im deutschen Sprachraum erschienenen Drucke des 18. Jahrhunderts) fulfill a function for the bibliographic history of the German cultural zone similar to the English Short Title Catalogue for Britain and North America. (en)
