Vercassivellaunus (?- 46 BC) was a Gaulish commander of the Arverni who led a relief force to assist Vercingetorix, who was besieged and low on supplies, in the Battle of Alesia. Caesar refers to him as a cousin of Vercingetorix. He encamped with his generals to the west of the battle. According to Caesar, their names were Commius, Viridomarus and Eporedorix. Sedullos, chief of the Lemovices, joined Vercassivellaunus with 10,000 of his own men and was killed at the battle. According to Caesar's "Commentarii de Bello Gallico", Vercassivellaunus was taken prisoner. It is speculated that he was subsequently strangled to death with the other Gaulish prisoners of war as part of the Triumph in which Caesar celebrated his victory over the Gauls.

Ce dernier, Cassivellaunos, est lui-même composé de Vellaunos qui signifie "le commandant" et de cassi qui peut renvoyer au terme catu, "la bataille". Oba se snažili prorazit obležení a spojit obě galské skupiny, aby římské legie porazili, ale římské obležení jejich náporu odolalo a Vercingetorix se vzdal. Vergasillaunus byl stejně jako Comminus podle Zápisků o válce galské Julia Caesara dostižen na útěku římskou kavalérii vedenou Titem Labienem a zajat. Jeho další osud je neznámý, ale nejspíš byl popraven stejně jako Vercingetorix při Caesarově triumfálním procesu v Římě 46 př. n. l. (cs)

In essa, egli venne in soccorso del cugino con la sua "tribù" contro Cesare e fu capo della coalizione giunta in soccorso a Vercingetorige con Commio, Viridomaro ed Eporedorige. Nel giorno decisivo della battaglia, il 24 settembre, guidò in persona l'assalto ai bastioni esterni della doppia palizzata di Cesare con 60.000 fanti, parallelamente al punto in cui attaccò Vercingetorige. Entrambi miravano a ricongiungere le file dell'esercito Gallico e solo così i Romani sarebbero stati sconfitti. Ma il ricongiungimento non avvenne, e la fanteria di Vercassivellauno fu attaccata sul lato dai fanti al comando di Cesare in persona e dalla cavalleria di Tito Labieno, la quale aveva in precedenza sconfitto i cavalieri di Commio.
