L7 kanonen som fanns på stridsvagnen Centurion och Leyland L60 multi-bränsle motor, växelsystem och eldledningssystem som återfanns på stridsvagnen Chieftain. Den första versionen som tillverkades Vickers MBT 1 var designad för att vara en billig och enkel, men ändå effektiv stridsvagn. Första prototypen tillverkades år 1963. (sv)

Para isso, utilizaram o canhão L7, do Centurion, o motor Leyland L60, além da transmissão e do sistema de controle de tiro do Chieftain. Forse è stato anche l'unico esempio di successo del genere, nonostante la mancanza di un nome (o una sigla) vero e proprio (MBT sta per Main Battle Tank, carro armato da combattimento), per via della ricca rete di ex colonie britanniche che potevano essere sensibilizzate dalle qualità del mezzo.
