Werner Scheler (12 September 1923 – 9 October 2018) was a German physician and pharmacologist. Between 1959 and 1971 he worked at the University of Greifswald where he served as the Director of the university's Institute of Pharmacology and as a teaching professor in his subject, subsequently also becoming the University Rector following the death of . Later, between 1979 and 1990, Scheler was the penultimate president of the (East) German Academy of Sciences.
