Wiener Johann Strauss Orchester (Vienna Johann Strauss Orchestra) is an Austrian orchestra based in Vienna. The orchestra was formed under the auspices of Professor Oskar Goger and the ORF (Austrian Radio) in 1966. Eduard Strauss II, nephew of Johann Strauss III, who carried on the Strauss dynasty musical tradition into the 20th century, was the orchestra's first conductor. Els membres de l'orquestra són seleccionats d'entre altres reconegudes orquestres vieneses, com l'Orquestra Simfònica de Viena, i una part de membres de l'Orquestra de la Ràdio de Viena. Eduard Leopold, també conegut com a Eduard Strauss II, després de la fundació de l'oorquestra, realitzà ja una gira per Amèrica del Nord l'octubre de 1966 i continuà amb la seva tasca reeixida fins a la seva mort el 1969. el succeí com a director principal i ha enregistrat molta de la música dels amb el segell discogràfic EMI. Auch Wladimir Fedosejew, Franz Bauer-Theussl, Martin Sieghart, Ola Rudner und Johannes Wildner dirigierten das Wiener Johann Strauss Orchester. Seit 1981 konzertiert das Ensemble im Wiener Musikverein und hat dort seit 1999 einen Konzertzyklus. (de)

Eduard Leopold (better known as Eduard Strauss II) took this orchestra for a tour in North America in October 1966 and success followed until his death in 1969. Willi Boskovsky was then chosen as principal conductor of the orchestra and recorded much of the Strauss family music with this orchestra on the EMI record label.
