- Xu Wenli (Chinese: 徐文立) (born on 9 July 1943), is from Anqing, located in the Southeastern province of Anhui, China. As one of the leaders of the China Democracy Party, Xu organized and participated in the Democracy Wall movement and acted as the chief editor for the journal April Fifth Forum. Xu was twice arrested by the Chinese government and sentenced to a total of 28 years in jail, of which he served 16. After his exile to the United States on 24 December 2002, Xu received an honorary doctorate degree from Brown University, and has since worked at the university's Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs as a senior research fellow. - Dies ist ein chinesischer Name; der Familienname ist Xu (徐). Xu Wenli (Chinesisch: 徐文立, * 9. Juli 1943) ist aus Anqing, das im Südosten der Provinz Anhui, Volksrepublik China liegt. Xu ist einer der Führer der Demokratischen Partei Chinas, er organisierte und nahm an der Bewegung Mauer der Demokratie teil und fungierte als Chefredakteur der Zeitschrift April Fifth Forum. Xu wurde zweimal von der chinesischen Regierung verhaftet und zu insgesamt 28 Jahren Gefängnis verurteilt, von denen er 16 abbüßte. Aufgrund seiner Arbeit wurde er 1999 für den Friedensnobelpreis nominiert. Nach seinem Exil in die Vereinigten Staaten am 24. - Xu Wenli (ur. 9 lipca 1943) – chiński dysydent, przebywający obecnie na emigracji w USA. Pochodzi z prowincji Jiangxi. Pod koniec lat 70. jeden z czołowych przywódców ruchu dysydenckiego zorganizowanego wokół tzw. Muru Demokracji w Pekinie, kierował działającym w latach 1978-1980 ruchem społecznym o nazwie Forum Piątego Kwietnia. We wrześniu 1980 roku opublikował list otwarty do Lecha Wałęsy. Wraz z dysydentami Sun Weipingiem i Wang Xizhe podjął próbę powołania partii politycznej, opozycyjnej wobec władz. Aresztowany 9 kwietnia 1981 roku, rok później został skazany na piętnaście lat pozbawienia wolności i utratę praw publicznych na okres lat czterech. (pl)
