The Yamagumo class are vessels of the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force, usually classified as a destroyer, but due to their relatively light displacement, in other sources as a destroyer escort. This class is the successor of the Akizuki class. This class was planned to become the new generation workhorse of the fleet of the JMSDF. In support of this objective, it was equipped with some new generation weapon and sensor systems such as the ASROC anti-submarine rocket and the OPS-11 early warning radar (Japanese equivalent of the American AN/SPS-40 radar).

- Эскадренные миноносцы типа «Ямагумо» (яп. やまぐも型護衛艦 Ямагумо-ката-гоэйкан) — серия японских эскадренных миноносцев. Построено 6 единиц в 1960-х-1970-х годах. Унаследовали названия от эсминцев времён Второй Мировой Войны, кроме «Аокумо». Параллельно с первой серией также были построены три корабля типа «Минэгумо», на которых вместо ПЛРК ASROC размещался ангар для противолодочного БПЛА DASH. С 1991 года эсминцы этого типа начали переводить в состав учебных (ПЛРК ASROC при этом демонтировался ради размещения дополнительных учебных помещений), окончательно все они были списаны к 2005 году.
