Yamaha SZR660 is a sport bike with a 659 cc (40.2 cu in) single-cylinder engine, produced by Yamaha Motor Corporation from 1996 to 2001. It was built in Italy by the Italian Yamaha importer Belgarda. It shares its engine with Yamaha's XTZ660 Ténéré line of dual-purpose on/off-road motorcycles, but employs this engine within a Supermono package. The 660 engine incorporates a five-valve cylinder-head. There are three intake and two exhaust valves. The theory is that the smaller valves have a larger area at a lower weight than a four valve system and allow maximum intake flow and velocity.

* Instrumente von CEV Der Hauptrahmen aus Aluminium ist leicht modifiziert und stammt ursprünglich von einer 3 MA. Außerdem sind einige Teile wie der Hauptrahmen, bis auf zwei Unterzüge zur Motorhalterung sowie die Bananen-Schwinge und die Bremsanlage gleich mit denen der Yamaha die auch vom italienischen Importeur Belgarda gebaut wurde. Die SZR fährt mit dem bewährten 660-cm³-Motor der Yamaha XTZ 660, allerdings mit anders abgestimmten Vergasern. Die Motorleistung beträgt 48 PS, das Drehmoment 54 Nm, das Leergewicht 159 kg. Ihr Potenzial ist auch auf Supermono-Rennen zu erkennen, wo durch Modifikationen die Leistung von etwa 78 PS ausgeschöpft wurde. Sie stellte neben der MZ Skorpion, die seit 1994 (und seit 1997 nach wie vor auch im Rahmen des MZ-Cups) den gleichen Motor verwendete, den letzten Straßensupersportler mit Einzylindermotor aus Serienproduktion dar. Die SZR brilliert durch ihr gutes Fahrwerk und das sich daraus ergebende leichte Handling. Der Fahrspaß wird nur durch eine schwächelnde Vorderradbremse, einen aufsetzenden Auspuff (rechts) und eine aufsetzende Ölleitungsschraube (links) begrenzt. Die technischen Schwächen sind der anfällige Zweistufenvergaser von Teikei und die Elektrik. Es wurden ca. 2000 Exemplare gebaut, zurzeit sind noch 139 in Deutschland zugelassen. A vacuum operated fuel pump is mounted on the bottom of the fuel tank to lift the contents of the tank to the twin carburetors.The fuel system incorporates one slide carb and one butterfly carb. Questa concezione di moto sportiva trovava nei primi anni '90 una condizione favorevole soprattutto per l'annunciato campionato supermono, che poi tuttavia ebbe difficoltà a decollare. Questo modello venne assemblato in Italia dal 1995 al 1997 da parte dell'importatore ufficiale Belgarda e commercializzato in varie nazioni fino al 2001. La casa giapponese affermava che erano di origine prettamente giapponese solamente il motore, il carburatore, il telaio e la ruota anteriore, mentre tutto il resto era "Made in Italy". L'estetica era caratterizzata dalla presenza di un cupolino abbastanza ampio e da un serbatoio con profonde sagomature per le ginocchia del conducente. La posizione di guida era abbastanza caricata in avanti, da classica sportiva. L'impianto frenante era limitato alla presenza di un monodisco Brembo sia all'anteriore che al posteriore e l'avantreno presentava una forcella, sempre italiana della Paioli, a steli rovesciati. L'impianto di scarico era della Lafranconi silenziatori. Tuttavia, dato lo scarso peso della moto, risultava sufficientemente potente. La moto, cui fu dedicato anche un campionato monomarca, l'SZR Cup, nonostante fosse in quel periodo praticamente senza concorrenti nel campo dei monocilindrici stradali di grossa cubatura, ebbe scarso successo commerciale, soprattutto per alcune azzardate scelte di design, particolarmente lontane dai canoni di quegli anni.
