The Yambilee Festival is a discontinued festival that was held annually in Opelousas, Louisiana. The Yambilee Festival started on the Wednesday of the last full weekend of October and continued throughout the weekend. The first Louisiana Yambilee festival queen was Jean Horecky of Church Point.There were 2 Co-Mr. Yams, Jack Herbert and Alfred Lagrange, both from Opelousas.The festival would crown its first king, R.J. Castille of Sunset, during the second festival. In 2012, the Yambilee Festival was discontinued due to both lack of funding and extreme lack of public support.

| - مهرجان يامبيلي (Yambilee Festival) هو مهرجان متوقف يُقام سنوياً في «أوبيلوساس» بولاية لويزيانا الأمريكية، وقد بدأ مهرجان «يامبيلي» يوم الأربعاء من أخر عطلة كاملة لنهاية الأسبوع في شهر أكتوبر واستمر طوال عطلة نهاية الأسبوع. تأسس «يامبيلي» من قبل إثنين من الأصدقاء، وهما «ج.و. بيل لوو» وهو مواطن أصلي من ولاية تكساس و «فيليكس ديزوتش» وهو يعمل كمعالج وشاحن للبطاطا، كوسيلة للاحتفال بصناعة البطاطا المحلية الحلوة. ووفقاً ل«ج.و. لوو»، كان سبب وجود المهرجان هو: المساعدة والتشجيع علي النهوض بالازدهار المادي والتقدم لولاية لويزيانا في جنوب غرب لويزيانا وسانت لاندري باريش وذلك من خلال تحفيز الاهتمام المحلي والوطني بمنتجات المزرعة في لويزيانا، وخاصة البطاطا الحلوة (اليام) وكذلك توفير برامج ترفيهية ملونة قادرة علي توليد الدعاية والإعلان عن البطاطا في لويزيانا وغيرها من المنتجات الزراعية علي الصعيد الوطني. و قد تم تنظيم أول احتفال «يامبيلي» في لويزيانا بين يومي التاسع والعاشر من شهر أكتوبر عام 1946 من قبل مجلس الإدارة الأول وكان أعضاءه هم: «ج.و. لوو» و «ج.ف. ديزوتش» و «أنتوني شاشير» و «شارل بورك» و «ج.ب. بارنت» و «أرنولد وينسبورج» و «ج.م. لاندري» و «أ.ب. ريد» «ألين ديزوتش» و «جون تيسلويت» و «أليكس واتكيتس» و «سيث لويس» وذلك بالإضافة إلى غرفة تجارة أوبيلوساس والمدينة والرعية ومسؤولي الولاية والمنظمات المحلية والمتطوعين الذين لا حصر لهم. و كانت «جون هوريكي» هي أول ملكة لمهرجان «يامبيلي» في لويزيانا وكانت من نقطة الكنيسة، كما كان هناك سَيّدَين مشاركين في احتفال البطاطا وهما: «جاك هربرت» و «ألفريد لاجرينج». وكان المهرجان سيقوم بتتويج ملكه الأول «ر.ج» كقشتالة غروب الشمس خلال الاحتفال الثاني. - The Yambilee Festival is a discontinued festival that was held annually in Opelousas, Louisiana. The Yambilee Festival started on the Wednesday of the last full weekend of October and continued throughout the weekend. The Yambilee was founded by two friends, native Texan J.W. "Bill" Low and Felix Dezauche, a yam shipper and processor as a way to honor the local sweet potato industry. According to J.W. Low, the Raison d'être of the festival was to "assist and encourage the advancement of the material prosperity and progress of the State of Louisiana, Southwest Louisiana and St. Landry Parish by stimulating local and national interest in Louisiana farm produce, particularly Louisiana Sweet potatoes (yams) and to provide colorful programs of entertainment capable of generating nationwide publicity and advertising for Louisiana yams and other farm produce." The first Louisiana Yambilee celebration, held October 9 and 10th of 1946, was organized by the first Board of Directors whose members included:J.W. Low, J.F. Dezauche, Anthony Chachere, Charles Bourque, Lee Mizzi, J.P. Barnett, Arnold Winsberg, J.M. Landry, A.B. Reed, Allen Dezauche, John Thistlewaite, Alex Watkins and Seth Lewis not to mention Opelousas Chamber of Commerce, city, parish and state officials, local organizations and countless volunteers.
