- Jehuda Ben Mose war ein jüdischer Übersetzer, Leibarzt und Astronom am Hofe Alfons des Weisen von Kastilien-León im 13. Jahrhundert. Er war neben die bedeutendste Persönlichkeit an der Übersetzerschule von Toledo. Eine Legende besagt, dass er eine Krankheit des portugiesischen Kronprinzen Dionysius, die von den Hofpriestern auf dessen Beschäftigung jüdischer Beamter zurückgeführt wurde, richtig als Blutgerinnsel erkannte. Durch eine erfolgreiche Operation wäre die drohende Vertreibung der Juden aus Spanien und Portugal verhindert worden. (de)
- Yehuda ben Moshe ha-Kohen (Yehuda Mosca o «Mosca el Coheneso» en las fuentes cristianas) vivió en el siglo XIII y fue médico real, astrónomo y un destacado escritor de la Escuela de Traductores de Toledo en época de Alfonso X el Sabio, para quien tradujo importantes obras científicas del árabe y hebreo al castellano. Fue rabino de la sinagoga de Toledo, llegó a ejercer de médico personal del rey sabio, y destacó como una de las más influyentes personalidades de la comunidad hebrea de la ciudad de las tres culturas de su época. He also excelled as an astronomer and was a prominent translator and writer at the Toledo School of Translators where he translated important scientific works from Arabic and Hebrew into Castilian. He was the Rabbi of the Synagogue of Toledo, and one of the most influential personalities of the Jewish community in the city at that time. (en)

Существует рассказ о том, как Диниш I, наследный принц Португалии, тяжело заболел, и ни один врач не был в состоянии диагностировать и излечить его недуг. Придворный священник убеждал короля, что принц наказан Богом за дружелюбное отношение к иудеям и использование их в своём правительстве. Еврейская община опасалась, что Португалия и союзная с ней Кастилия могут склониться к высылке евреев. Иегуда бен Моше отправился в Португалию, добился разрешения осмотреть пациента и пришёл к выводу, что принц страдал от тромбоза. Священник попытался добиться, чтобы король отказался от услуг Иегуды, но вмешался принц и решительно потребовал дать врачу шанс.
