The 1925 German football championship, the 18th edition of the competition, was won by 1. FC Nürnberg, defeating FSV Frankfurt 1–0 after extra time in the final. For 1. FC Nürnberg it was the fourth national championship. It was part of Nuremberg's most successful era where the club won five titles in eight seasons from 1920 to 1927, missing out on a sixth one in the inconclusive 1922 championship. For FSV Frankfurt it was the club's sole German championship final appearance.

  • Die achtzehnte deutsche Fußballmeisterschaft sah zum ersten Mal eine Reform des Endrundenmodus seit der Saison 1905/06. Der Deutsche Fußball-Bund beschloss, dass jeder Regionalverband nunmehr zwei Teilnehmer zur Endrunde schicken durfte. Die mitgliederstärksten Verbände, der Süddeutsche Fußballverband und der Westdeutsche Spielverband, durften sogar drei Teilnehmer stellen. Der 1. Elke regionale voetbalbond mocht twee teams sturen en de Zuid-Duitse en West-Duitse bond, die de sterkste van het land vormden mochten zelfs drie teams sturen. Het ging hier niet per se om de tweede of derde in de stand. Er werden speciale kwalificatierondes georganiseerd, soms ging ook de bekerwinnaar naar de eindronde.
