- The 1968 Italian general election was held in Italy on 19 May 1968. The Christian Democracy (DC) remained stable around 38% of the votes. They were marked by a victory of the Communist Party (PCI) passing from 25% of 1963 to c. 30% at the Senate, where it presented jointly with the new Italian Socialist Party of Proletarian Unity (PSIUP), which included members of Socialist Party (PSI) which disagreed the latter's alliance with DC. PSIUP gained c. 4.5% at the Chamber. The Socialist Party and the Democratic Socialist Party (PSDI) presented together as the Unified PSI–PSDI, but gained c. 15%, far less than the sum of what the two parties had obtained separately in 1963. - Las elecciones generales se celebraron en Italia el 19 de mayo de 1968 para elegir al Quinto Parlamento Republicano. Democrazia Cristiana (DC) se mantuvo estable en torno al 38% de los votos. Fueron marcados por una victoria del Partido Comunista (PCI) pasando del 25% en 1963 a c. 30% en el Senado, donde se presentó conjuntamente con el nuevo Partido Socialista Italiano de Unidad Proletaria (PSIUP), que incluía miembros del Partido Socialista (PSI) que no estaban de acuerdo con la alianza de este último con DC. PSIUP ganó c. 4.5% en la Cámara. Sie waren die sechsten nach dem Ende des Zweiten Weltkriegs und der Einführung des allgemeinen Männer- und Frauenwahlrechts.Gewählt wurden alle 630 Sitze in der Abgeordnetenkammer und 315 von 322 Sitzen im Senat. Die Wahl fiel außerdem in die Zeit der aufkeimenden Studentenproteste, die in Italien besonders starke Formen annahmen. Die Kommunisten erwiesen sich als unfähig, dieses Protestpotential zu integrieren und mit der Arbeiterbewegung in Verbindung zu bringen. (de)
