Start war diesmal am 9. November 2008 um 13 Uhr in Les Sables-d’Olonne (Frankreich). Der Sieger der Austragung 2008/2009 heißt Michel Desjoyeaux (Foncia), der die Nonstop-Weltumrundung mit einer Gesamtstrecke von 28.300 Seemeilen bei seinem Sieg am 1. Februar 2009 um 16.11 Uhr in 84 Tagen, 3 Stunden, 9 Minuten und 8 Sekunden schaffte, was einer außerordentlichen Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit von 14,02 Knoten entspricht. (de)

  • De Vendée Globe 2008-2009 was de zesde editie van de non-stop solowedstrijd zeilen om de wereld. Op 9 november 2008 gingen dertig boten in Les Sables-d'Olonne van start om zo'n drie maanden later daar weer terug te keren na een tocht om de wereld. Winnaar werd de Fransman Michel Desjoyeaux in een recordtijd van ruim 84 dagen, drie dagen sneller dan het vorige record. Hij kwam op 1 februari 2009 over de finish. Desjoyeaux is de eerste zeiler die deze race voor de tweede keer won. De elfde en laatste boot arriveerde op 15 maart 2009. (nl)
