The men's elite race was won by Brazil's Marílson Gomes dos Santos in a time of 2:08:43 hours while the women's race was won by Great Britain's Paula Radcliffe in 2:23:56. In the wheelchair races, Australia's Kurt Fearnley (1:44:51) and Switzerland's Edith Hunkeler (2:06:42) won the men's and women's divisions, respectively. In the handcycle race, Poland's (1:35:26) and Dutchwoman (1:46:34) were the winners.
