The 2009 Jacksonville Jaguars season was the franchise's 15th season in the National Football League and the 7th under head coach Jack Del Rio. This was the first season for new general manager Gene Smith, who hoped to usher in a "rebuilding" era for the Jaguars franchise. The Jaguars improved upon their 5–11 record in 2008, however, they failed to qualify to play in the playoffs. The team unveiled a new uniform design for the 2009 season. Team owner Wayne Weaver reportedly wanted to "clean up" the look, feeling that the team had too many uniform styles.
