The 2014 New Mexico gubernatorial election took place on November 4, 2014, to elect the Governor of New Mexico. Incumbent Republican Governor Susana Martínez successfully ran for re-election to a second term in office, defeating Democratic Attorney General Gary King, son of former governor Bruce King. Unlike in most states, New Mexico's governor and lieutenant governor are elected in separate primaries. The winning candidates then run together on the same ticket. Primary elections were held on June 3, 2014.
